Infection control refers to preventing the transmission of disease from one patient to another, from staff to a patient and from a patient to the staff. All our methods meet or exceed Australian Standard AS/NZS4815. It is something we take extremely seriously so that you don’t have to worry about it.

Some of the things we do are:

  • Using single use disposable items where possible.
  • Use of disposable barrier sleeves on light handles, tubing and cameras.
  • Use of steam sterilisers (autoclaves) capable of running a Class B cycle. (We have two Class B autoclaves). These are monitored with daily testing for function, and each cycle is recorded for sterility, time and temperature. The units are also serviced and calibrated regularly in accordance with Australian and International best practice.

Infection control is one of those behind the scenes things that patients don’t necessarily see but is of paramount importance to the health and safety of everyone.
